SOURCES:
1.  In July 2005, Ms. Elizabeth Daughdril (daughdri at mail dot flex dot net--e.mail address is done this way to discourage address "collectors" and spam) found my website and sent me the following information (all of which appears in this green) for which I am very grateful.
2.  The various census documents have produced some encouraging information, as have data from two death certificates, all made available through Ancestry.com.
3.  In Jun 2009 Sharon Ray posted some cemetery photos and gravesite data at Findagrave.com that have been most encouraging.
4.  North East Independent School District, San Antonio, TX, provided some valuable data on my 4th cousin, Jerry Comalander.
5.  In March 2015, I received an email from Cindi Scott (cindiscott52 at gmail dot com). She reports that she has evidence that Martha married a Richard West in Dallas Co., AL, in 1845.  We are investigating this report further.

Harris b. 13 Sep 1824; d. 3 Jul 1846, aged 21y 9m 20d, according to her gravestone at the Old Cahaba Cem.]); at least 5 ch., i.e., by Martha Gwin;

Comalander, Jesse & Amanda J. Harris 26 Oct 1844 --- 281

[John M. Gwin Note One--July 2005: The existence of this seventh child of John and Jane Gwin comes as a complete surprise to me, as Uncle James did not have any records of her.  Barbara Smith had sent the name with a summary of her late husband Roy's work on the family, the printout dated 18 Sep 1995; therefore, evidently Roy had known about Martha for some time. But none of the documentation was included, so I had no idea whence it came.
The existence of Jesse Comalander was documented, however, appearing in the Wed., 12 Dec 1849, entry of Rev. Cotten's diary where he records, regarding one of the prisoners who was to be executed by hanging that day, that "His hands were bound behind him in an unfeeling manner by Jesse Comalander."  As this event occurred some two and a half years after the recorded marriage date of Jesse and Martha, Cotten would have had no cause to mention as fact that Jesse was married to John Gwin's daughter Martha.

And now, 25 Oct 2001, I read in the 1850 Dallas Co. census that Jesse Comalander, age 46, a mechanic, and native of SC, did indeed reside at residence 560 (valued at 2800 dollars) with a woman, "Martha J.", age 22 of AL (young enough to be his daughter!) and five children: J. W., a male age 11; M. J., a female age 8; Elizabeth, age 6; G. P., a male age 3; and Jesse, a male age 1.  Martha is Jesse's third wife.  But if she is John and Jane's daughter, and I'm now convinced she is, then she is stepmom to at least two of the five children--and possibly (but not necessarily) twin sister to her brother Chesley, also listed in the same census as age 22!

But now in July 2005 I have received all the abovementioned info from Elizabeth Daudril, and so I have started this page, combining the little I already had with her additional data.]

[John M. Gwin Note Two--1 Apr 2019:  The following advertisement in the Friday, February 10, 1854, edition of The Dallas Gazette was posted on his Ancestry.com page by "Al_Lon_Moore" who "originally shared this on 24 Aug 2017".  My transcription of the ad appears to the right in case the photocopy is illegible.  This advertisement states that Jesse Comelander and wife (this wife is clearly Martha Gwin Comelander, my gg-grandaunt, since she and Jesse were married some five-to-seven years before the ad was posted) are auctioning a slave woman named Nancy to pay their mortgage.
It is my sincere hope that any descendants of this dear and
regrettably enslaved Nancy--perhaps surnamed Comelander--can use this information to confirm their lineage at least to her.]

Cahawba, April 19, 1836
Tho. J. Frou, Esq.
Sir:  I send you the Presentment of the Grand Jury at the late term of our Circuit Court, of which your corresopondent "A Grand Juryman" made enquiry in the Selma Free Press of Satur- day last.                                        WM. WHITTED.
This day came the Grand Jury of the present Term into open Court, and made the following presentment, to wit:
THE STATE OF ALABAMA,}      Circuit Court,
Dallas County.        }  Spring Term, 1836
The Grand Jury regard it as not beyond the sphere of their duty or privileges, that they should express their decided disapprobation of the course pursued in Congress by the Hon. Henry L. Pinckney.  The concession made in the Resolu- tion offered, advocated, and sustained by the gentleman, the Jury view as dangerous in its consequences; and feels that it deeply concerns the whole South as well as that portion of the country whose good order and best interests it is at this time their peculiar business to guard.  It is a concession we would have felt bound to reject if it had come from any source; but that the right to legislate on the subject of Abolition in the District of Columbia or elsewhere, should have been conceded to Congress by a Representative from the South--by one to whom it was believed the best interests of his country might have been confided, has been heard with astonishment and regret and will be remembered and detested as an act treacherous to the generous and confiding people by whom its author was promoted as long as the foul and reckless plan of Northern Abolitionists continue to disturb the repose of our country.
The Jury present not only the numerous and nefarious schemes by which the institution of Slavery is assailed as being worthy of the constant vigilance of the public; but also point out the act above alluded to as deserving to be classed among them, and well meriting the seal of public disapprobation.
(Signed,)    JOHN CRAWFORD, Foreman.
Henry Emerson,                  Benjamin J. Tarver,
Wiliam Day, jun.                 Benjamin F. Adams,
Masting Stringfellow,          Uriah Grigsby,
George w. Thrash,              Andrew Yost,
Gideon White                      Hamlin Quarles,
James J. Jordan,                 Jesse Cumalander,
John M. Lucas,                   Robert Mays.
And it is requested by the Grand Jury that the foregoing presentment be published in the Selma Free Press.
A true copy from the minutes.
            Attest,       WM. WHITTED, Clerk.

25.01--John Wesley Comalander, a stepson to Amanda and Martha, b. ca. 1839 to Jesse and Elizabeth; d. unk.; bd. unk.; m. Jamima (nee unk.); at least two ch.;
[listed as J. W. Commelander, male, age 11 and b. in AL, in the 4 Nov 1850 census of Cahawba Beat, Dallas Co., AL]
[listed as John Comalander, 31, painter, b. in AL, in the 1 Aug

[listed as Jamima Comalander, 27, b. in MD, in the 1 Aug 1870 census of Columbia, Richland Co., SC]

[Lonnie Moore Note--5 Sep 2020:    I was doing some digging and determined that the oldest child, John Wesley Comalander, was indeed the “John W. Comelander” who shot and killed Arthur William Moore in August 1876.  I have posted several news clippings of the event and trial, which ended in acquittal of J. W. Comalander in Dec 1876.  A twist is that Arthur W. Moore (no known relation to my Moores) was related to J. W. Comalander (his wife’s cousin by my calculation, though news reports said he was J. W. C.’s uncle).]

26.01--Jesse Comalander, b. ca. 1867 in AL; d. unk.; bd. unk.; m. unk.; unk. ch.;

[listed as Jesse Comalander, 3, b. in AL, in the 1 Aug 1870 census of Columbia, Richland Co., SC]

25.03--Elizabeth Comalander, a stepdaughter to Martha and probably Amanda, b. ca. 1844 to Jesse and either his first wife or Amanda (age 6 in 1850 census--and age 15 in the 1860 census where she is living (visiting?) in Cahawba, AL, in the Grice home with her step-grandparents, John and Jane Gwin!); d. unk.; bd. unk.; m. unk.; unk. ch.;

[listed as Elizabeth Commelander, age 6 and b. in AL, in the 4 Nov 1850 in census of Cahawba Beat, Dallas Co., AL];

[JMG Note: If this child were born in 1844, she was probably the daughter of Jesse's first wife, and quite possibly it was complications during her birth that killed this first wife and drove him to Amanda.]

25.04--T. E. Comalander, b. unk.--no birth date listed on gravestone; d. 28 Jun 1846, five days before the death of Jesse's second wife Amanda Harris Comalander; bd. in the Old Cahaba Cem., Cahaba, AL; my best-guess scenario is that the baby died at birth and that Amanda died shortly after of complications therefrom; this then is probably Jesse's child, but certainly not Martha's; also bd. there are a woman likely to be Jesse's sister and a child, b. five days before the "sister" dies; therefore, she is likely the mother of this child.

RETIRED BAPTIST MINISTER DIES HERE.
Rev. L. N. Comalander, 60, retired Baptist preacher, died Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the home of his son-in-law, D. E. Arnold, at 3011 Jackson street, after a three-week illness. Rev. Mr. Comalander's home was at Arcadia. Before he retired from the ministery he was pastor of the Alabama Baptist church near Arcadia. He is survived by his widow, and three children. Funeral arrangements in charge of the [Wellman] funeral home will be announced upon the arrival of relatives.
[John M. Gwin Note:  Pastor Larkin Comelander was married twice: first to Jessie Fincher (b. 1884 in LA/LA/GA--see 1910 and 1920 censuses), then to Bessie Simpson (b. 18 Nov 1888 in LA/England/Ireland--see 1930 and 1940 censuses).  Ancestry.com has mistranscribed her race in 1940 as negro/black, but a glance at the original shows that she was white.  The town of Buda, located in the suburbs of Austin, Texas, is today a city.

Below left is a copy of the original card; below right in green is my transcription of it in case the original does not appear.]

30.00--eight grandchildren, five of whom are found, thanks to Kenneth's obit, below, but for these three of whom, Josh, Matt, Cody, it is unclear from the above 2012 obituary as to whom they were born or as to their birth order.  Both obits together, however, leave clues that all three may be children of Troy.

OBITUARY
Kenneth W. Arnold, of Shreveport, LA, passed away on June 1, 2017, at WK Progressive Care after a long battle with Muscular Dystrophy.

Kenneth was born September 10, 1960 in Shreveport, LA to Jeff "Buck" Arnold and Gladys Cason. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1979.
He is survived by his two sisters Susan Doyal and husband Doug and their children Justin Baughman, Lauren Doyal, and Haley Duke; sister Jodie Arnold and son Mikey; one brother and son Tanner, along with his close friends Rickey Perot, Perry Tuminello and Chris Tuminello.

Kenneth loved spending time with his family and close friends. His favorite restaurant was Notinis in Bossier City, where he ate regularly. He enjoyed NASCAR, San Francisco 49ers and the Texas Rangers. He also enjoyed the time that he spent with Rickey, watching ball games or NASCAR; talking with longtime classmates Perry about a new or used car or discussing working on cars with Chris. He had a big heart and never hesitated to check in on everyone to make sure that they were all doing fine.
He was well loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Alabama Cemetery
Located in Sec 3, Twp 18, Range 5 of Lincoln Parish. The cemetery actually lies at the junction of Claiborne, Bienville, and Lincoln Parishes. Years ago a quarter acre of the cemetery was in Claiborne Parish; however, when the road was reconstructed, this quarter acre was taken into the road right of way. The Alabama Baptist Church is located in Bienville Parish.

Take Louisiana Highway #151 from Arcadia, Louisiana, northeast for 2.2 miles. Cemetery is on right side of road.

                                                                                                      OBITUARY
Tammy Comalander Milton was for all who knew and loved her one of God’s caring people. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, December 29, 1942.  It was there that she met Spiller, he a Centenary student and she completing her high school education. They were married on July 10, 1962.  Spiller took his bride to their first parsonage in Boyce where he was the summer student pastor.  Their early years together included seminary at Emory and Iliff. Tammy was ever at his side as helpmate, confidant, and gracious hostess in pastorates throughout Louisiana and Arkansas.  She also worked with Spiller in the mission field at Dulac Community Center.
During their years together, Tammy and Spiller opened both their homes and their hearts to many.  Often times, you would find someone living with them for one reason or another.  Her hospitality extended to the church family as well as to the community. Tammy is best remembered in many congregations as a gracious hostess, welcoming people to the church or parsonage for a delicious meal and delightful fellowship.
Tammy had a very compassionate nature.  She nourished her desire to help people by working in the field of health care.  Tammy pursued her dream of becoming a nurse and completed the course for licensed practical nurses while in Crowley.  Twice before, she had begun to study nursing but was interrupted by a change in pastorates.  She combined her nursing and her work for the Lord serving as Home Health Visitor in Dulac as camp nurse and as nurse for UMW School of Christian Mission.  Tammy was also active in the hospice movement.  She felt her gifts were best used in nursing the terminally ill.
Her two sons, William Thomas (Tim) and Jeffery Matthew (Jeff) were her pride and joy.  Tammy knew when her time on earth was growing short, and she was so thankful that her sons had become fine young men.  In preparing for the end, Tammy was sustained by her strong faith in God, was thankful for the life she had been granted, and was able to let Spiller, Tim, Jeff, family and friends know of her faith and love.
Death came as a friend at 6 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 1990.  Rev. Mrs. Carole Cotton-Winn and the Rev. W. W. Smith led a celebration of Tammy’s life for her multitude of friends.  I celebrate because she is my friend, and her faith sustains me until we meet again.

AL This is the same Eliz. as is seen in 1860 living with her maternal grandparents (John and Jane Gwin) and in the 1870 census of Montgomery Co., AL, living with her older sister Catherine.  Catherine is listed as age 34 in the 1870 census and living with her second husband, so in 1850, she'd be 14 and likely md. to her first husband, Adam Crusious (see Elizabeth Daughdril's comment in 1870 census, below).

AL Probably the first child of Martha (Jesse's fifth--four by Amanda). If George were born in 1847 and they were married on 22 Apr 1847, that means that either he was born pre-maturely or he was conceived out of wedlock. If he were born in Jan 1848 or later, his age in the 1850 census could be one or at most two.

George's middle initial is shown as P here but as U in the marriage book below and in all the censuses in which he appears.

[John M. Gwin NOTE:  The LDS IGI file (of legendary inaccuracy!), while listing correctly our Martha J. Gwin marrying on 22 Apr 1847 in Dallas Co. to Jesse Comelander, ALSO LISTS a Martha J. Gwin marrying on 28 Oct 1847--only 6 months later--in Dallas Co. to a Mr. Richard West! However, I believe this to be either another Martha J. Gwin or a transcription error.]

Now for what we learn about Jesse Comalander from the census: You already had the 1850 Dallas Co., AL reference.

I found him in the 1860 Lowndes Co., AL census, Mt. Willing, page 694, living with John Quinn and his wife, who by the way were found on page 25 of the 1850 Dallas Co., AL census, Cahaba P. O. Still have not located Jesse's family in the 1860 census...

AL Ancestry.com mistranscribed this as Cometander   When I first saw Elizabeth here in 1860, I assumed her mother, Martha, and perhaps her father, Jesse, had died. But in July 2005, Elizabeth Daughdril shared that she had found both alive and well in 1870 in Claiborne Parish, LA! She'd also found Jesse in 1860 in Lowndes Co., AL, so clearly there were other things going on than we had assumed. Current speculation is that John and/or Jane were very ill and needed caregivers, so a combination of the Grices, grandson Walter Roark, and step-granddaughter Elizabeth may have turned out to serve as care-givers. We know Jane would die before 1870, but she is clearly alive as late as 16 Feb 1864, as her name appears on a record of sale of land in Cahawba on that date.

I found the newlyweds on 6 Nov 1850 living in residence no. 568 in Cahawba Beat, Dallas Co., AL; Catherine Crusious is 16, and Adam, a retail grocer b. in Germany, is either 22 or 27.  Jesse and Martha are there, too, in residence #560 (see 1850 census summary, above).  Depending on which census report (1850 or 1870) is correct, Catherine may have been 14 here rather than 16.

Webster Parish was formed in 1871 from parts of Claiborne, Bienville, and Bossier Parishes.) Recorded on page 288, 4th Ward: Jessie COMALANDER, 77, Wd., b. Jessie Comalander 77 1803 Self Widowed NC/NC/NC farmer Elizabeth Daughdril, from whom I received this data, says that Jesse's POB in this report is "obviously an error," all other sources indicating his POB to be SC. I imagine that the census taker heard that his parents' POB was NC and just put down NC for him as well

George U. Comalander 32 1848 son "NA" AL/NC/NC
Was age 22 in the 1870 census; for the reasons stated below, I believe he is a widower here and the father of Larkin.
The father's and mother's POB are clearly wrong here as well...

Lucy A. Comalander 22 1858 daughter Widowed LA/NC/NC
Lucy was age 13 in the 1870 census; she may be a widow here, having married in 1876; however, her last name appears to be Comalander here, not Hall, posing something of a dilemma.

William  Comalander 19 1861 son "NA" LA/NC/NC
Will was age 9 in the 1870 census.

Larkin Comalander 5 1875 grandson
LA/NC/NC
This is, according to the "family lore" reported by Ms. Elizabeth Daughdril, the son of George and his wife Elizabeth P. Johnson; Elizabeth has died (when Larkin was 2 or 3, ca. 1878), and George will die in a matter of months, perhaps weeks, at age 32 or 33. But I've not seen Larkin in the Comalander family of the 1880 census of Webster Parish, LA. Elizabeth, is this from lore only?

And some interesting queries
from Elizabeth--can you help?

Perhaps you can help me unravel this -- In researching Jesse Comalander who married Martha J. Gwin in Dallas Co., AL, I found J. M. Cumberlander, 55, Brick mason, b. SC in the 1860 Lowndes Co., AL census living with John Quinn, 59, b. NC and his wife Francis (sp), 56, b. SC.  The marriage records of that county record that Jesse M. Cumberlander signed the bond for their daughter Juliette's marriage to John Luther Maynard. Frances "Quinn" is listed in those marriage records as Frances Cumberlander Quinn.

I did not find Jesse Comalander's family anywhere in the 1860 census, and pick him up again in the 1870 Claiborne Parish, LA census, page 113. It was here that Jesse and Martha's son George married into my Johnston family.

Thank you for any enlightenment you may offer.

I am glad to hear that you are still interested in the family of Jesse Comalander.  Several things about him and his family are puzzling.  Dallas Co., AL, records seem to indicate that he might have been married perhaps three times, that perhaps Martha J. Gwin was his third wife, not his second.

Allen Hudson in a post on Ancestry's Comalander message board says he is descended from Jesse Comalander's daughter Catherine who married (1) Adam Crusious and (2) James Matheson.  I found Catherine and her second husband in the 1870 Montgomery Co., AL, census, page 478:

Matheson, James................41..........Scotland..........Painter
Catherine J.........................34..........AL
Mary E.................................5..........AL
Comalander, Elizabeth........26..........AL ..................Seamstress
This would appear to be the same Elizabeth found in Dallas County in 1850.  If Catherine is indeed her sister, Catherine could not be the daughter of Martha J. Gwin.  What do we have here?  Two Jesses? Several Martha J. Gwins?  Any ideas?

Elizabeth

Ron, Thanks for your reply. What info. do you have about Jesse Comalander? I know that Jesse was born in South Carolina circa 1804 and came with his family to Dallas Co. Ala. in the early 1800's. I descend from his daughter Catherine who first married Adam Crusious and then James Matheson in 1859. It is through this second marriage that I descend. Let me know what data you have on this line when convenient. Hudson Allen, Austin, Tx.

Now to go back in time Wicox County Alabama I find this family,
Marcus Smith
Susan E. Dunn
Robert 1846
William 1849
Sarah Elizabeth 1852
John W. (My ggggrandfather) 1853
Susan
Fradian 1858
James 1859
Margaret 1866

Marthelle 1869
I know that in 1880 both Susan and Marcus are gone. Susan's maidan name is Dunn she has a brother name Lemuel could this all add up? She had moved to Clarke Coutny Al. and was last found in the 1870 Clarke census without Marcus. Pleas Help with any information... My name is Ava G. Comalander and I live in Pensacola, FL - the names you mention are cousins of mine. We are from Alabama. You have several cousins that live in Houston, Texas. Cedric and Terry Comalander are my brothers. Terry has children your age. Terry's oldest is named Stephanie who is 20 now, her brother is named Mathew (17/18 years old) and the youngest is named Elizabeth (2 years of age). Terry and his wife Theresa has recently relocated to Livingston, Texas I beleive. However Cedric still lives in Houston. I also have a sister named Brenda who lives in Fairhope, AL and 2 younger brothers Scot and Jason who live in Citronell, AL. My fathers name is James W. Comalander who lives in Foley, AL. One of his brothers was named Robert. I believe this would be your Robert, Sr. - Robert, Jr. and Virginia would be my cousins and my fathers nephew and niece. You may email me and I'll send you my fathers phone number and he can lead you futher in your search.

My mother was a Comalander from near Pensacola. I remember her telling me a story about Jesse and Jacob Comalander. All I remember (this is from a child's memory) is that she said the the two brothers stowed away in salt barrels to come to America from Ireland. The original name was Cumberlander, I think. Jacob was my ancester. Most of the Comalanders are in South Carolina, Texas, or the northern panhandel of Fla./Alabama.

Hi Pat,
I know this reply is long after your posting, but hope you see it. I am married to Roger Smith, Maggie Comalander and Robert ( Kit) Smith's son. I have just started researching his Comalander family and hoped that you could help. I have met your mother inlaw Beulah back in the early 80's, a very sweet lady. If you could share info, email me at mabes91@earthlink.net.
Thanks,

Subject: Comelander Geneology

Hello,
My name is Melissa Bolton Carter. I am doing research on my father's family tree. I have reached a dead end, and as I Googled a family member I found your website.  My father is Archie Dwane Bolton, my grand father was Archie Martin Bolton, my great grand father was William Jack Bolton, and my great great grand father was Elija Bolton and his wife was Nancy L Comelander. I have found I think her father Levi Comelander.   I know Nancy was born in October in Alabama and in the 1870 census she was living in Natchitoches, Louisiana with Elija.  Her death is listed as 25 Mar 1878 in Nacogdoches, Texas.  If you know of any details or resources I could have/use, I would really appreciate your sharing them with me.

In search of my past,
Melissa Carter

Hello, Melissa--thanks for writing--good to meet you!  I have arranged your line here in the outline format I use:

24.00--Levi Comelander?
25.00--Elija Bolton, b. ca. 1830; m. Nancy L Comelander (b. Oct in AL; d. 25 Mar 1878 in Nacogdoches, TX; bd. unk.); they were lvg. in Natchitoches, LA, in 1870 census:
Elizah Bolton        40
Nancy Bolton        33
May Bolton           12
John Bolton          10
Henry Bolton          9
Robert Bolton         8
William Bolton        3
26.00--William Jack Bolton, b. ca. 1867
27.00--Archie Martin Bolton
28.00--Archie Dwane Bolton
29.00--Melissa Bolton Carter

Hi John;

I am one-half of the Al_Lon_Moore ancestry account, shared with my brother, Alan. Our tree is Moores11.

Like Allen Hudson, Jr., whose information you reference on your webpage http://www.gwingenealogy.net/GENEALOGY/SURNAMES/comelanderJessMartGwin.htm, brother Alan and I are descended from Jesse Comalander’s daughter, Catherine J. Comalander, and her second husband, James Matheson.

I just revisited your page and enjoyed reviewing the information (again) as I had not spent much time on the Comalanders for a while. I have added a few finds to our Moores11 tree that may not be important to you but you might find interesting.

By my records, Jesse’s first wife was Elizabeth (cannot find the maiden name) and they had four children, of whom my g-g-grandmother Catherine was the second.

I was doing some digging and determined that the oldest child, John Wesley Comelander, was indeed the “John W. Comelander” who shot and killed Arthur William Moore in August 1876.  I have posted several news clippings of the event and trial, which ended in acquittal of J. W. Comelander in Dec 1876. A twist is that Arthur W Moore (no known relation to my Moores) was related to J. W. Comelander (his wife’s cousin by my calculation, though news reports said he was J. W. C.’s uncle). You might want to take a look. If you have any trouble relocating our tree, I can send an ‘invitation’ via ancestry.

I had originally not expected to find any Comalanders in Philadelphia, and I don’t know the reason(s) for the move, but in 2016 I determined that the fourth child of Jesse and Elizabeth, also named Elizabeth, died in Philadelphia in 1875.  I think poverty was involved, and Elizabeth was likely living with her brother J. W. Comalander and his family, who, in turn, ended up sharing space with his wife’s relatives (Arthur Moore and Moore’s wife, Mary E.), per the later 1876 news reports of the shooting.

Back in 2016 I was able to work with a volunteer there and locate the position of Elizabeth’s unmarked grave in Mt. Moriah Cemetery and created a memorial – see https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/171009601/elizabeth-comalander. I agree with a note on your site and other researchers who believe that the birth of Elizabeth in 1844 was the cause of death of her mother. Soon after, Jesse married Amanda J. Harris, who herself apparently died of complications of giving birth to their one son, T. E. Comalander, in 1846.

Also, I found a reference book of cemetery transcriptions that showed Jesse’s first wife, Elizabeth, and some other Comalanders, were buried in Old Cahaba Cemetery. There was already an incomplete memorial for her (no DOB or DOD) so I supplied that information from the transcripts and it was added to https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/114558958/elizabeth-comalander. Based on the transcriptions in the reference book, I created memorials there for Amanda J. Harris Comalander (the second wife) and son T. E. Comalander (I am supposing the gender which could be a mistake) and a “W. R. Comalander” who died in 1844. I have no information on who W. R. Comalander was.  IF (big IF) W. R. was another child of Jesse and his first wife Elizabeth, then W. R. was a twin of daughter Elizabeth who was also born that year. To me, that is a real possibility, but so far nothing to confirm it.

Thanks for publishing the work and others on your site; it has been helpful.
