Substitute instructions Thank you for subbing for me!  Please feel free to visit with of my team members for assistance: Mr. Art H a g g e r t o n, who teaches 8th grade Language Arts across the hall in Rm. 53, or Ms. Angela V e a r a, who teaches Science 8 and Math 8 down the hall in rm. 42.  Further, Ms. Maura E g a n and her assistant, Ms. Allie B u r r o w s, next door in rm. 41, can help you with any questions concerning your non-AES Special Ed. students in periods 5, 6, and 7. Lastly, Ms. Michelle M a r s h a l l (other building, turn left, first classroom on right) or Ms. Sarah G o s s (other building, straight ahead, second classroom on right after the office and foyer) can help you with AES questions.  You may also be able to call me on my cell (575-635-1712).

Please write a summary of the plan
/objectives for each period on the board before class so the students will have an idea of what is expected of them for the period.  You may use the calendar on the back whiteboard if you wish, or write your own summary on the front board.

You should find my class rosters on my desk.  Please take roll in each of my four classes (Block 1 [pds. 1-2], and pds. 5, 6, and 7) and mark any who are absent with a slash through their boxes for today.  If they come in tardy after you have marked them absent, write a capital tee below the slash.  Your schedule of class times is listed below and on the board by my desk.  Further, I have AEP students in small groups (3-4) on Tuesdays through Thursdays as listed below in this purple.  I use no seating charts at present; the kiddos are very good about sitting in the seats they chose at the beginning.
If a new student arrives today, please allow her/him to sit wherever he/she wishes after the others have arrived and are seated.
Should a student need to go potty, he/she must show you the potty pass in her/his planner for you to sign.  I only allow one person out of the room at a time; they're good about waiting their turn if they know another is already out. Water fountain requests need no potty passes, but again, only one out of room at a time.  Special note: Myles L. (6th pd.) may not leave the room for any reason (water, nurse, office, or potty). Just tell him that he knows my policy and to please sit down.  If he keeps bothering you to the point of disruption, call the office (674-1064) and have them send someone down to escort him out--he goes nowhere alone.  If he is visiting with others, move the others to seats away from him; leave him isolated in the front.  Reggie, Jasmine, and Thomas are three who may need to be moved.
Students will get their own laptop computers and headsets for periods one and two and their own books and folders for periods five and six.  Period seven will pass out their folders, but you must tell them to do so if they will be needed (today they will not be needed).  If they are playing chess, they can get their own sets out and set them up.
Bells are used for my classes only at the beginning of the day (one at 0810 to allow students in the building and a tardy bell at 0815) and on either end of the lunch period.  Please do not dismiss 5th period until the bell rings at 1210.  Because 6th period is so much shorter than 5th, start taking roll at 1247 and count anyone absent who is not in the room when you call his name.  Mark tardy those students who arrive after you count them absent.
Teachers' restrooms are in the other building near the office--ask anyone for directions.
You may eat lunch in my room and host those who come in to play chess, or you may leave a sign on the door that there will be no class at lunch today and eat with the others in the teachers' lounge (in the next building, turn left; third door on your left).
The blue fire drill folder is behind the American flag--take the folder with you and follow the kids out the east door and down the angled sidewalk to the unpaved area across Viking St. Count heads again after you get there, write that number on the pink slip from the folder, and send that pink slip to the office with a student when the all clear is given.
Wall telephone is the hotline to the office.  Use it for any questions and/or discipline problems you can't handle (I sincerely doubt you'll have any of the latter).
Please leave me your report at the end of the day.  Thanks again!

Sarah G o s s (other building, straight ahead, second classroom on right after the office and foyer).

Students will get their own laptop computers and headsets for periods one and two and their own books and folders for periods five and six.  Period seven will pass out their folders, but you must tell them to do so if they will be needed.

Students will get their own laptop computers and headsets for periods one and two and their own books and folders for periods five and six.  Period seven will pass out their folders, but you must tell them to do so if they will be needed.

Thank you for subbing for me. 41, can help you with any questions concerning your Special Ed. students in periods 5, 6, and 7.  You may also be able to call me on my cell (575-635-1712).

Please write a summary of the plan for each period on the board before class so the students will have an idea of what is expected of them for the period.  You may use the calendar on the back whiteboard if you wish, or write your own summary on the front board.

Your class rosters should be on my desk.  Please take roll in each of my four classes (Block 1 [pds. 1-2], and pds. 5, 6, and 7) and mark any who are absent with a slash through their boxes for today.  Your schedule of class times is listed below and on the board by my desk.  Further, I have AEP students in small groups (3-4) on Tuesdays through Thursdays as listed below in purple.  I use no seating charts at present; the kiddos are very good about sitting in the seats they chose at the beginning.

Students will get their own laptop computers and headsets for periods one and two and their own books and folders for periods five and six.  Period seven will pass out their folders, but you must tell them to do so if they will be needed.  If they are playing chess, they can get their own sets out and set them up.
Teachers' restrooms are in the other building near the office--ask anyone for directions.
You may eat lunch in my room and host those who come in to play chess, or you may leave a sign on the door that there will be no cless at lunch today and eat with the others in the teachers' lounge (in the next building, turn left; third door on your left).
The blue fire drill folder is behind the American flag--take the folder with you and follow the kids out the east door and down the angled sidewalk to the unpaved area across Viking St.
Wall telephone is the hotline to the office.  Use it for any questions and/or discipline problems you can't handle (I sincerely doubt you'll have any of these).
