Why study this family?
        The only answers I have to this question so far are based on his given names and his parents' places of birth.  Chesley is the maiden name of my alleged ggggg-grandmother, Sarah (Chesley) Gwin, and Richard is the given name of her husband, my alleged ggggg-grandfather, Richard Gwin, both of eastern Virginia.  My gggg-grandfather, Isham Gwin, gave this name to one of his sons--Chesley Richard Gwin, who was the younger brother of my ggg-grandpa, John Gwin, and my own ggg-granduncle.  Other relatives carried this name as well.  Granted, the last name of the subject of this page is different--Guinn instead of Gwin--but spellings change, sometimes because misspellings are rampant and occasionally become accepted or adopted through ignorance or other reasons.  The fact that his parents were born in Alabama is also a huge attraction to me.  And so I started this page seven years ago, and it has lain dormant until now.  I hope to be able to connect Chesley and Amanda to my family.  Let's see where the clues lead.
