Cousin,
My son and I took a "road trip" on his Spring Break last month and we happened to ride through Gastonburg, AL, where my grandfather lived. I showed him the plot of ground (now occupied by run-down trailers) where he lived, and visited the old town cemetery where my uncle is buried. My grandfather, as you may know, is buried in Morrell, Arkansas where my father was born.
Keep in touch, if you will. All the best.

Railroad foreman | My
dad,
Adrian S. Gwin, told that once, after his father had been
killed in a train wreck, this cousin and a team of railway
workers came to their house in McDowell and built them
some playground-type equipment in their yard for them to
play on, including a teeter-totter made from railroad
ties. Emmett and many other of the cousins went out of
their way to be father-figures for them. |

cousin marrying in 1950 in Wilcox Co., AL, to some unnamed
sweetheart. |
[John M. Gwin Note: In June 2003, Ms. Mary Elizabeth Tinney Hill of Wilsonville, AL, responded to an article I had posted to several list serves. It turns out that her Tinney family of Wilsonville knew my Gwins of Wilsonville, and she has quite a bit of information about my family. One item is the picture, below, of the students at Wilsonville School. On the back are two sets of comments identifying most of the students and telling some things about them. These two sets of comments are transcribed by me below the picture. The student closest to the camera is William Arthur "Tony" Daniel who married Mary Edith Gwin, my 1st cousin twice removed (26.05 above).]
