I have been trying to find Champion Guinn's family; he was b. probably NC/TN in about 1760-70, as he md. Dorcas Williams in Wilkes/Burke Co., NC, later Washington Co., TN, then later another county because of boundary changes [John M. Gwin Note: Washington County: Guin, Champ m. Williams, Dorcas on 26 Dec 1787].
Later he was in Franklin Co., TN, about 1830-50--I forgot.
Then his family was in Jackson Co., AL.
Your info had a Champe Carter McCulloch in it. Could he have been named from him? [John M. Gwin Note: I don't think so, since it was John Gwin's granddaughter, Emma Basset, (d/o Louis and Sarah Gwin Basset) who married into the McCulloch line.].
I also am looking for John Guinn who I was told was my direct line but I am having trouble finding him.
Could Champion be a nickname?
Champion had a son/grandson (hard to tell for sure) Elious/Elias Henderson Guinn/Guin.
Elias had a brother William Guin who came from VA and was a blacksmith.
They lived in Stevenson, AL, in about 1860-80 maybe.
Any info appreciated. The Guinns not only are mixed up, I think, but spell name so many ways.
